The predecessor of TsGALI SPb was established in 1969 on the basis of fonds dating from the 1920s and 1930s that were received from the Leningrad State Archive of October Revolution and Socialist Construction (LGAORSS—now TsGA SPb—D–15). TsGALI SPb is the second largest, after RGALI, archival repository for documentation on literature and the arts in Russia. It constitutes an organizational and methodological center for work with documentation of personal provenance for state archives in the Northern and Northwestern regions of the Russian Federation. |
