ArcheoBiblioBase: Archives in Russia: H-20Last update of repository: 16 March 2020Muzei-panorama “Borodinskaia bitva”History The museum was founded in 1962 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Russian victory in the 1812 War against the Napoleonic invasion of Russia. It houses the impressive battle panorama by the Odessa-born painter F.A. Rubo (Roubaud), son of an immigrant French merchant. The reconstructed peasant hut used during the battle by General Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov (Kutuzovskaia izba) remains part of the museum complex (Moscow, Kutuzovskii prosp., 38, str. 2). The collection of archival documents was begun in April 1984. In the early 1990s, the museum underwent major renovation and has since been reopened. The Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia was established in 2001. In 2006 it became a branch of the Battle of Borodino Panorama-Museum (Moscow, Bol'shaia Cheremushkinskaia ul., 24, korp. 3; tel.: +7 499 744-30-25; e-mail: [email protected]). |
