History
The museum was opened in 1981 in the stylobate of the monument erected in November, 1964, in honor of the launching of the world’s first artificial Earth satellite. The museum has an affiliated branch, namely the S.P. Korolev Memorial House-Museum (H–148).
The Museum opened after reconstruction 12 April 2009.
