[ARAN] (Lib: DLC; MH). First volume contains information about personal fonds of prominent Russian scientists from the second half of 19th century holding in the archive of RAN in Moscow. Second volume (electronic publication) contains information about institutional fond of RAN/AN SSSR. In all two volumes contain information about 861 fonds including 572 personal fonds, 382 institutional fonds and 7 collections (razriady).

(Also listed as e–171). “Trudy Arkhiva Rossiiskoi Akademii nauk,” vol. 1, 5, 9, 16, 19, 24, 27, and 28. (Lib: DLC; IU; MH) [IDC-R-10,949 (vols. 1—“6)]. The first volume provides a history of the archive, and describes major institutional fonds, personal papers, and major collections roughly through 1930 (most of which are held in the SPb branch—see E–25). The second volume covers institutional records through 1939 and additional personal papers. Subsequent volumes mainly cover personal fonds. An appendix to vol. 5 (19) provides a cumulative list of personal papers, including those described in different volumes of the Trudy (e–3).

Initially issued “for service use only” (DSP), the list provides data on all fonds of personal papers held by ARAN (fonds 350–699) and its St. Petersburg Branch (now PFA RAN, fonds 1–349 and 700 or above), with data as of 1 January 1959. Many of the fonds listed were then classified, but they are now open for research. Provides data on published finding aids, surveys, and other reference literature. Finding Aids — Specialized:A few specialized catalogues and descriptions for fonds in ARAN issued prior to 1976, including those in the Archive’s Trudy series, have been prepared in IDC microfiche editions, and are listed in PKG, M&L (1972), pp. 205–208, and in Sup. 1 (1976), pp. 60–61 and 157.
