The Museum of Vadim Sidur was established in July 1989 in the Perovo Exhibition Hall, where exhibits of the work of the repressed Soviet Russian sculptor and graphic artist Vadim Abramovich Sidur (1924–1986) first opened in Moscow in 1987 in the face of great political opposition. The museum was raised to the status of a state museum by decree of Moscow Mayor Yurii M. Luzhkov in 1995. The museum honoring Sidur has collected significant materials relating to the artist and to unofficial art in the Soviet Union from the 1950s through 1980s. In 2018 the Museum of Vadim Sidur became part of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. |
