ArcheoBiblioBase: Archives in Russia: H-255Last update of repository: 18 March 2020Muzei-kvartira A.A. Bloka—Filial GMISPbHistory The museum was founded in 1980, to honor the centennial of the birth of the Russian poet Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Blok (1880–1921), and occupies the apartments where Blok lived from 1912 until his death on 7 August 1921. The museum is administered as a Branch of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg (GMISPb—H–200). Some of the museum exhibits were assembled from personal effects and memorabilia that had earlier been deposited in the Literary Museum in Pushkinskii Dom. An important collection of Blok-related materials, including archival materials, were acquired from N.P. Il'in in 1977–1978. A few books, documents, and photographs are displayed in the museum itself, but most of the archival materials are retained as part of the A.A. Blok Fond in the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. Because of the disastrous physical condition of the premises where they are currently housed, they are closed to the public and negotiations are under way to transfer that collection to the museum itself. N.B. Other major parts of the Blok papers are held in Pushkinskii Dom (E–28), the Russian State Library (G–1), and RGALI (B–7). |
