The present name of the museum dates from its reorganization in late 1991. It serves as the main museum for materials relating to various subordinate organs, agencies, and units (troops) of the MVD throughout the former USSR. The museum is housed in the administrative building of the former Sushchevo fire and police brigade (Sushchevskaia chast'), an architectural monument of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. |
