There is an access fee, and if archival material is to be published, the conditions must be agreed upon with the administration. Working conditions Researchers are accommodated in working offices of the Division of Fonds, where as a rule, materials are available soon after they are ordered. Copy facilities There are no copying facilities in the museum. Copies, however, may be made for an additional charge, if researchers have their own equipment. Reference facilities There are card catalogues and inventories for staff use. A computerized database describing the archives is currently being compiled. Library facilities An auxiliary library (9,000 volumes) was founded at the same time as the museum on the basis of book collections from the Gatchina Palace (started late 18th c.) containing the personal libraries of Paul I, Empress Maria Fedorovna, Alexander III, Grand Duke Michael (Mikhail) Aleksandrovich, and Nicholas II. The library contains books on history, military history, and art (tel. +7 813-71 149-04). |
