XIX—XX vv.—Gorokhovaia, 2”—Filial Gosudarstvennogo muzeia politicheskoi istorii Rossii (“Gorokhovaia, 2”)Holdings Archival materials collected for the branch museum on the history of the investigation of political crimes in Russia (1826–1930s) are actually part of the Division of Fonds of GMPIR (H–201), only some of which are on exhibition in the branch museum itself. There are rare originals and copies of documents and photographs, folders, drawings and postcards showing the work of the Third Department of His Imperial Majesty's Personal Chancery (Tret'e Otdelenie Sobstvennoi Ego Imp. Velichestva Kantseliarii) and the Police Department (Departament politsii) in prerevolutionary Russia, and the punitive organs of the Soviet state—the Cheka, the Petrograd Cheka, and the Petrograd Division of the Consolidated State Political Administration (Ob"edinennoe gosudarstvennoe politicheskoe upravlenie–OGPU). There is documentation relating to political repression from the 1930s through the 1950s. There are also some illustrative, iconographic materials, including albums, drawings, and artistic postcards, from the archives of security organs, particularly from the prerevolutionary Department of Police and the Security Service (Okhrana) Division. |
