History
The museum was founded in 1979 to mark the fortieth anniversary of the Battle of Moscow during the World War II (1941–1942). It was opened to the public in 1981. In 1994 the museum exhibition halls were reconstructed and new exhibitions were organized. The museum was reopened to the public and to researchers in 1995.
