Vol. 1 describes 18 manuscripts from the Novospasskii Monastery and vol. 2 describes 70 manuscripts from the Simonov Monastery.

The code numbers cited by Savva are correlated to current ones in the more recent supplementary catalogues listed above (h–38–h–40). The third edition contains a reprint of the earlier separate 1858 description of the ecclesiastical holdings in the sacristy (riznitsa) as well as the descriptions of the manuscripts in the library as its two component parts, and is the last one that covers manuscripts in the Synodal Library. There are fourth (1863) and fifth (1883) editions of the description of holdings in the sacristy, but these do not include any manuscripts.
