The archive retains some of the records of RGPU (from 1918 to the present), together with those of the institutes, schools, and technicums, that were established under it and then abolished. Representative fonds include the records of the Leningrad Teaching Institute of LGPI (to 1956); the K.D. Ushinskii Leningrad State Pedagogical Technicum (1921–1931); the Worker’s Faculty (Rabfak) of LGPI (1922–1941); N.K. Krupskaia Communist Academy (1926–1941); A.S. Bubnov Leningrad Oblast Pedagogical Institute (1930–1937); Estonian-Finnish Technicum (1930–1937); M.N. Pokrovskii Leningrad City Industrial-Pedagogical Institute (1931–1937); Leningrad oblast Division of the Peaples’ Education (Lenoblono) Pedagogical Courses (1932–1940); Batratsko-Bedniatskie Courses (1933–1934); Two-Year Leningrad Pedagogical Institute for Retraining Seven-Year Teachers (1933–1935); Higher Courses in Foreign Languages (1934–1937); Leningrad Oblast Pedagogical Higher School (1936–1940); City Two-Year Teachers’ Institute (1936–1941); the Leningrad City Pedagogical Institute (1940–1941); and the Second Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (1948–1956).
        Most important among the RGPU records remaining in the RGPU archive are personnel files of teachers, students, attendees, graduate students, the State Examination Commission (GEK) protocols and regulations, study plans, diploma registers, personal files of foreign students, housing books for residence permits, cards for workers and support staff, directives, regulations, and minutes (protocols) of the subdepartment (kafedra) meetings.

N.B. The main body of university records from the postrevolutionary period and many of those of associated or later merged institutions are now held in TsGA SPb (D–15); many of those of prerevolutionary predecessor institutions are held in TsGIA SPb (D–16).
