Library facilities The library (ca. 200,000 books and brochures, over 36,000 music and over 120,000 units of Russian and foreign laguagies periodical publications), which includes part of the libraries of the former State Academy of Art Studies (GAIS), and the personal libraries of Count V.P. Zubov (ca. 3,000 volumes), A.I. Ziloti, R.R. Bekker, and S.K. Bulich, among others, has literature in the general fields of art history and criticism, dramaturgy, musicology, fine arts, cinematography, and literary studies. It also retains copies of dissertations that were defended in the Institute and its predecessors. A card catalogue is being established of memoirs, diaries, and letters of theater personalities, and in connection with the Film Laboratory, work is also progressing on a reference card catalogue on individuals involved with cinematography.
