A basic survey of the formation and characteristics of the Hebraic holdings in SPbF IV, with reference to earlier relevant publications and cataloguing work on the collections, started by I.I. Gintsburg and then edited by K.B. Starkova. Notes that Hebraic holdings now number 1,148 units, ranging from a single manuscript to a folder unit with numerous manuscripts or fragments. The largest single group (over 300 MSS) was acquired in the late nineteenth century with the L.P. Friedland Collection and has subsequently been increased by numerous accessions.
