Library facilities Established in 1906 as part of Pushkin House, and now administratively a division of BAN, the Library of IRLI (ca. 600,000 vols.) comprises one of the richest and most extensive collections relating to literature and folklore studies in Russia. Started with the acquisition of the personal library of Pushkin in 1906, its holdings include book collections from the museums of Lermontov, Pushkin, and Tolstoi, the Alexander Lyceum, part of the imperial palace libraries, and also collections from the private libraries of many well known Russian writers and literary scholars, such as those of A.A. Blok, B.L. Modzalevskii, A.F. Onegin, F.K. Sologub (pseud. of Teternikov), and S.A. Vengerov, among others, and include many books with dedicatory autographs. In addition to standard library catalogues, there are specialized card catalogues for individual literary figures and other personages, books from collections of various writers, private libraries, and autographs, among others (see e–321). Other specialized card catalogues prepared by individual literary scholars and critics such as S.A. Vengerov and B.L. Modzalevskii (see e–337), among others, are held as part of the Manuscript Division. Access to the library requires the permission of the director of IRLI.
