Muzei Gosudarstvennogo akademicheskogo Bol'shogo teatra (Muzei GABT)

History
The museum was established in 1920. For the purpose of its exhibits and productions of the theater, the museum has retained considerable archival materials relating to the history of the Bolshoi Theater during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Most of the archive of the theater and personal papers of performers have been transferred to state archives and other specialized theater museums or libraries. A few of the exhibits are open to the public during theater performances.

N.B. A large part of the archive of the Bol'shoi Theater for the period starting in 1917 has been transferred to RGALI (B–7, fond 648). Descriptions of those holdings can be found in the published guides to TsGALI (now RGALI).
