Most of the literary manuscript materials covered by the earlier series of inventories Biulleteni GLM, vols. 1–5 (1935–1940) and Katalogi GLM, vols. 6–8 (1941–1949) are now held in RGALI (B–7, b–324). The L.N. Tolstoi manuscripts (Biulleteni GLM, vol. 2), however, are now held in the Tolstoi Museum (H–65, h–578), and the Pushkin materials (Katalogi GLM, vol. 7) are held in Pushkinskii Dom (E–28, e–324).

An account of the history and the work of the State Literary Museum from 1931 to 1941, when the director was V.D. Bonch-Bruevich. Provides considerable information on the acquisition and composition of the manuscript fonds, which were subsequently moved to the State Literary Archive (now RGALI). The complete dissertation is available in the RGGU library.

The eighth volume of the important GLM publication series includes a series of surveys of individual fonds held by the museum, namely those devoted to N.P. Ogarev (pp. 801–13; from the M.O. Gershenzon collection), N.A. Nekrasov (pp. 814–21), N.G. Chernyshevskii (pp. 821–24), D.A. Furmanov (pp. 825–27), and letters of the French writer Henri Barbusse (pp. 827–29). Other volumes of the series, edited by Bonch-Bruevich, contain documentary publications rather than archival descriptions, but those covered by the first six volumes were all transferred to TsGLA (now RGALI) in 1941.

A recent catalogue of materials relating to Herzen and Ogarev held in GLM, covering a total of 761 items. Manuscript and documentary materials (nos. 219–252), including 24 recently accessioned letters from the T.A. Astrakova collection. A large part of the catalogue covers books (13 with dedicatory autographs) and pictorial materials, including Herzen's collection of portraits of the Decembrists (nos. 318–359). Note that all of the Herzen and Ogarev materials covered by the 1940 GLM catalogue (Biulleteni GLM, vol. 5) are now held in RGALI (see B–7, b–324.4).

A survey of records of the society (1870–1930), started in 1870 on the initiative of A.N. Ostrovskii and V.I. Rodislavskii, whose aim was to promote better relations between dramatists and private theaters—now fond 151 in the Manuscript Division (other parts of the records are held in RGALI).

A survey and characterization of the archival materials collected by the Moscow University physics professor Mikhail Grigor'evich Pavlov (1793–1840), who was active in literary circles in the early nineteenth century.

Describes the many books with dedicatory autographs found in the library collection of the Soviet poet and bibliophile, Dem'ian Bednyi (pseud. of E.A. Pridvorov). Other articles in the same collection describe dedicatory autographs of writers from different republics of the USSR in the libraries of A.A. Fadeev (pp. 196–205), the library of M.M. Prishvin (pp. 120–43), and autographs of K.A. Fedin found in the GLM book collections (pp. 207–21).

A detailed, scholarly catalogue with item-level descriptions of the 401 units of collected pictorial materials in the fond of the Russian symbolist poet Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Blok (1880–1921). The collection, which was acquired by the museum at different times (1934–1982) includes portraits, photographs, drawings, and other graphic materials. There are many illustrations, an index of Blok's works cited, and an index of personal names.
