There are also materials on theater architecture—photographs documenting theater performances abroad; photograph albums; photo- and printed reproductions; newspapers clippings; negatives; documentary films, and other pictorial material on the theater. The largest photographic collections came from the actresses M.G. Savina and V.F. Komissarzhevskaia, actor Iu.M. Iur'ev, ballerina A.P. Pavlova, and opera singer F.I. Chaliapin (Shaliapin). There is a unique collection of photographs of the first performance of Tchaikovsky’s (Chaikovskii’s) ballet, “Sleeping Beauty” (Spiashchaia krasavitsa) in the Mariinskii Theater. There is also a collection of photograph albums, including those that belonged to the director and composer E.F. Napravnik, the singers L.V. Sobinov and M.A. Slavina, and ballet-master M.M. Fokin (Michel Fokine). |
