The museum was opened in 1992, on the initiative of city literary circles, in apartment 119, where the writer Mikhail Mikhailovich Zoshchenko (1895–1958) lived from 1934 until his death. Initially a branch of the Dostoevskii Museum (H–252), the M.M. Zoshchenko Museum became independent in 1993. In 2007 it was transformed in the 20th Century State Literary Museum N.B. Other Zoshchenko papers are held in Pushkinskii Dom (IRLI/PD—E-28). |
