Opening hours: by appointmentHead: Tat'iana Anatol'evna Igumnova Holdings Total: 18th–20th cc. photographs—over 27,000 (1879–1990s); negatives—over 29,000 units (early 20th c.–1994) The museum archive, administratively part of the Scientific Division (Nauchnyi otdel), holds materials on the history of Peterhof including inventories of the interior contents, albums, plans, and technical drawings made by the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century architects Niccola Michetti, Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli, P. Neelov, V.I. Bazhenov, Friedrich von Wistinghausen, Nicholas Benois (N.L. Benua), Harald Julius Bosse, Joseph Charlemagne (I.I. Sharleman'), and A.I. Shtakenshneider (Stakenschneider). Also preserved are the detailed late eighteenth-century scaled perspective drawings by the French engineer Pierre-Antoine de Sainte-Hilaire. The photograph (fototeka) and negative (negateka) archives contain individual photographs and photo albums showing views of the park and the fountains, the facades and interiors of the palaces, and the pavilions, some of which were taken before the revolution. There are also photographs of the paintings, graphics, sculptures and other objets d’art housed in the museum. There is a collection of photographs showing damage during World War II. Working conditions: Materials are available in the reading room the day they are ordered. Reference facilities: There are opisi in addition to inventories and card catalogues for staff use. Copy facilities: Xerox copies can be prepared. |
