(fonds) Opening hours: WTh 10:00–16:00Main Curator of Fonds: Marina Nikolaevna Tselorungo (tel. +7 496 386-33-56) Holdings Total: 52 fonds; 2,644 units; 1769–1991 The museum holds a collection of materials on the history of the Napoleonic (Patriotic) War of 1812, which includes documents on the domestic and foreign policy of the government of the Russian Empire from the end of the eighteenth century to 1825 and materials relating to those who fought in the war (service records [formuliarnye spiski], letters, and decorations and medals) and their families, relatives and descendants (including the diplomas issued with the decorations awarded to 1812 heroes the brothers N.A. and A.A. Tuchkov, and V. and P. Kokhius). There are maps and plans of the Battles of Smolensk, Borodino, and Tarutino, and other documentation on military operations around Moscow in the summer and fall of 1812. There are also documents relating to the founding of the Spaso-Borodinskii Monastery on the former battlefield. A separate collection of documents pertains to the Second World War and includes the papers of men who fought in the Fifth Army at Borodino in 1941 and 1942, and newspapers and magazines of the war period. There are copies of documentary films and photographs from state archives, particularly the Russian State Archive of Documentary Films and Photographs (RGAKFD—B-11) on the liberation of Mozhaisk and Borodino from the Germans and on the arrival of Soviet troops in Boleslavets (formerly Bunzlau). A separate fond contains documents on the founding and activities of the museum. Working conditions: There is no reading room. Reference facilities: There are inventories and card catalogues. A computerized database has been set up providing information from the service records of officers who fought at the Battle of Borodino, which includes data from the museum fonds and from the Russian State Military History Archive (RGVIA—B-4). |
