There is also a complete collection of posters from the 1920s–to present. History: The archive was organized in 1942 to bring together the records previously held by various museum divisions. In 1957 those records were processed as fond 148 in the Division of Written Sources (OPI), but since 1990, the accumulated records became a separate department of GIM. Before the museum was evacuated from Moscow in 1941 some archival documents were burned. Documents of this archive were never transferred to state archives. Only a small part of the document collection dated before 1942 are now held in GA RF (B-1) in the Narkompros fond.
