The Center collects and processes data on several specialized subjects for which different databases have been established: the history of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russian archives, the history of the Jewish people in archives of the Russian Federation and former USSR, biobibliographical data on Russian (and former Soviet) archivists, and archival Rossica abroad. The Russian Orthodox Church project is based on questionnaires administered by the Center, which have resulted in much more extensive data than hitherto available or than is contained in the recently published VNIIDAD directories (Istoriia Russkoi Pravoslavnoi Tserkvi v dokumentakh federal'nykh arkhivov Rossii, Moskvy i Sankt-Peterburga: Annotirovannyi spravochnik-ukazatel' [1995] and Istoriia Russkoi Pravoslavnoi Tserkvi v dokumentakh regional'nykh arkhivov Rossii: Annotirovannyi spravochnik-ukazatel' [1993]). Regrettably, however, the project moves slowly due to lack of funds for staff and computer equipment. Working conditions: Researchers are received in TsAI working offices. Copy facilities: Copies of data are not available, since the contents of the databases are being prepared for publication. |
