There is also a small collection of manuscript books and manuscripts (16th–19th cc.) in Chinese, Russian, Persian, and languages of Afghanistan on alternative medicine, which were donated or acquired by IEM specialists, while on expeditions or assignments to fight epidemic outbreaks. There are unique rice paper unique manuscript books on Tibetan medicine. Other documents include five original letters by Louis Pasteur (1880s) in answer to invitations to accept the directorship of the Institute, and the official decree of Emperor Alexander III on the founding of the Imperial Institute of Experimental Medicine (1890). There are manuscript dissertations defended at the Institute and reports on the scientific research work by the staff in recent decades. Working conditions: Books and manuscript materials are available in the reading room the day they are ordered. Reference facilities: There is a card catalogue of dissertations and documents on microfilm. |
