Moskve i Moskovskoi oblasti)History The local Moscow operational archive was formed to house records from Moscow and Moscow Oblast (earlier Guberniia) of successive security organs of the Cheka (ChK, VChK), OGPU, NKVD, and the KGB. There are several archival depositories for these materials in various Moscow suburban locations, although the central office is maintained at the Lubianka. According to the Russian presidential decree of August 1991, and the 1992 recommendations of the Russian parliamentary commission for the transfer of CPSU and KGB records to federal archives, KGB records were supposed to be transferred to Rosarkhiv and local state archives. As of the end of 1998, however, there have been limited transfers of local Moscow KGB records regarding repressed persons to GA RF (B–1). |
