Memorial'nyi muzei-kvartira N.A. Rimskogo-Korsakova—Filial Sankt-Peterburgskogo gosudarstvennogo muzeia teatral'nogo i muzykal'nogo iskusstva

History
The museum was opened in 1971 as a branch of the Leningrad State Theater Museum—now SPbGMTiMI (H–264)—in the apartment where the composer Nikolai Andreevich Rimskii-Korsakov (1844–1908) lived with his family from 1893 until his death, and which was at the center of St. Petersburg musical and cultural life.

N.B. Other archival materials of and relating to N.A. Rimskii-Korsakov are held in the main collections of SPbGMTiMI (H–264), including other parts of the collections on which the exhibits in this branch are based.
The extensive Rimskii-Korsakov archival materials that were earlier held in the former special Museum-Archive of N.A. and A.N. Rimskii-Korsakov (Muzei-arkhiv N.A. i A.N. Rimskikh-Korsakovykh), which had been established in 1944 as part of the Scientific Research Institute of Theater and Music (NIITiM), were later combined with other archival holdings under the successor institute to form what is now the Cabinet of Manuscripts in RIII (E–57), which still retains a considerable part of the Rimskii-Korsakov papers.
Other personal papers and original music scores of N.A. Rimskii-Korsakov are held in the Manuscript Division of RNB (G–15) and in the Library of the St. Petersburg N.A. Rimskii-Korsakov State Conservatory (G–19).
        Some original and copies of archival materials are held by the Rimskii-Korsakov House-Museum (Dom-muzei N.A. Rimskogo-Korsakova) in Tikhvin (187500, Leningrad Oblast, g. Tikhvin, ul. Rimskogo-Korsakova, 12; tel. +7 813-67 53-376, +7 813-67 51-267; website: http://museum.ru/m244).
