Nauchno-memorial'nyi muzei N.E. Zhukovskogo

History
The museum was opened in 1956 under the auspices of the N.E. Zhukovskii Central Institute of Aero-Hydrodynamics, having been established in 1947 to honor the centennial of the birth of the Russian aerodynamics specialist, Nikolai Egorovich Zhukovskii (1847–1921). Zhukovskii, one of the founders of the Kuchino Aero-Hydrodynamics Institute in 1904, was particularly important in the development of Russian aviation. Subsequently he helped establish, and was the first director of, the Central Institute of Aero-Hydrodynamics, which now bears his name.
        The museum has two branches:
                (1) The N.E. Zhukovskii House-Museum (Dom-muzei N.E. Zhukovskogo)—the exposition of the museum is under construction (Moscow, ul. Zhukovskogo, 8).
                (2) The S.A. Chaplygin Apartment-Museum (Muzei-kvartira S.A. Chaplygina), honoring the aerodynamics engineer Sergei Alekseevich Chaplygin (1869–1942), who worked with Zhukovskii and jointly organized the Central Institute of Aero-Hydrodynamics (Moscow, ul. Chaplygina, 1a, kv. 37).
