(museum collections) Holdings The basic collection in the Division of Fonds comprises documents from personal collections of war veterans, either donated to or purchased by the museum. There are also documents on the history of the war received from exchange fonds from other museums. The division comprises several sectors: the Manuscript-Document Sector, the Pictorial Sector (Sektor IZO), among others. The Manuscript-Document Sector retains documents from personal collections of war veterans, letters from the front, books, and other documents (many in xerox copy), as well as handbills and leaflets (both Soviet partisans and Germans), military maps, and other materials. The Pictorial Sector collects paintings and graphic materials, including some frontline drawings of E.A. Afanas'ev, A.V. Kokorin, and others, as well as many wartime posters. Reference facilities: There is an ongoing database covering documents in the Manuscript-Document Sector, and a separate card catalogue of “Letters from the Front.” |
