Library facilities The University library (ca. 570,000 vols.), founded in 1907, mainly contains literature on biology and medicine. It has incorporated the former library of the Medical Educational Institute of the Mechnikov Hospital and the private library of L.V. Trever. It retains manuscript dissertations defended at the Academy. The Library of the St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Post-graduate Education was founded in 1896.
