History
The museum was founded in 1969 in the house where the Soviet conductor, composer, and pianist, Nikolai Semenovich Golovanov (1891–1953) lived from 1935 to 1953. It is administratively an affiliated branch of the M.I. Glinka State Central Museum of Musical Culture (GTsMMK) (H–94). Having had the status of N.S. Golovanov conductor’s workshop and studio (Tvorcheskaia laboratoriia dirizherskogo masterstva), it has brought together many of his papers and recordings.
