This division contains only theater posters and programs. It includes programs from the Imperial Theaters of Moscow and St. Petersburg; from Russian and foreign private theaters, such as the V.F. Komissarzhevskaia Theater, the Zimin Opera, and the Korsh Theater; and from private prerevolutionary repertory companies that performed in provincial Russia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Materials from the Soviet period come from theaters in Moscow and Leningrad, as well as those in other regions of Russia and the former Soviet republics. This division contains programs designed by such famous artists as A.M. Vasnetsov, A.Ia. Golovin, K.A. Somov, and F.O. Shekhtel'.

Reference facilities:
There is a subject-thematic catalogue for posters by theaters and plays; a catalogue for materials from the period of the Second World War (currently being updated); and a catalogue of materials from prerevolutionary Russian provincial theaters compiled on a geographic basis with an index of repertory companies, benefit performances, and classical repertoires.
Work began in 1991 on a guide to fonds of the Russian provincial theater (over 300,000 units described). Description of a significant part of the materials was completed by 1994, which is already included in a separate card catalogue.

Copy facilities:
Xerox copies can be prepared of documents no larger than European standard paper size (A4); photographic copies can be prepared for posters.
