History
The museum was founded in 1990 and opened in 1992 to honor the well-known Russian poet, singer, composer, and actor at the Taganka Theater, Vladimir Semenovich Vysotskii (1938–1980). Most of the holdings were donated by Vysotskii’s widow, L.V. Abramova.
