History
The museum honoring the Russian poet Sergei Aleksandrovich Esenin (sometimes Yesenin in English) (1895–1925), opened in 1995 to mark the centennial of his birth, in the house where Esenin lived from 1911 to 1918. It received official state status in 1996.

N.B. Some Esenin papers are held in RGALI (B–7—fond 190), while most other Esenin personal effects are held in the Konstantinovo Memorial House-Museum in Riazan Oblast (391103, Riazanskaia oblast', Rybnovskii raion, s.
