This division retains collections of grammophone records, tape recordings, and other sound recordings of the great Russian and foreign musicians and actors, and of symphonic works. Among the Russian names recorded here are A.M. Davydov, F.I. Chaliapin (Shaliapin), S.Ia. Lemeshev, A.V. Nezhdanova, M.P. Maksakova, and N.A. Obukhova. Foreign singers include Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, and Nicolaus Gedda. The A.E. Pavlov Collection contains material on the history of the Russian and Soviet stage.
