Muzei-usad'ba I.E. Repina “Penaty”—Filial NIM RAKh (Repino, Leningrad Oblast)

History
The museum was opened in 1940 on the country estate of the Russian painter Il'ia Efimovich Repin (1844–1930) in the village of Kuokkala (now Repino), where Repin lived from 1903 to 1930. After his death Penates became the property of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. During the war the museum holdings were evacuated to Leningrad. In 1944 the buildings on the estate were destroyed by fire. In 1962 after reconstruction and restoration work, the museum was once again opened to the public. The museum is administered as a branch of the RAKh Scientific Research Museum (H–237).
