History
The Museum of the History of the Militia was founded in 1976 as a structural subdivision of the Main Administration for Internal Affairs of the Leningrad City and Oblast Executive Committee (Lenoblgorispolkomy)—since 1992 of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. It was opened to the public in 1977.
