Manuscript collections in the museum contain documentation on the defense of Moscow and the defeat of the German armies outside Moscow in 1941–1942. They include personal documents of those who took part in the defense of Moscow and their relatives, comprising memoirs, diaries, letters, photographs, and maps. Among the personal papers, for example, are personal documents and memoirs of the army doctor M.K. Kuz'min; the writer and editor of the army newspaper Unichtozhim vraga, T.S. Grits; a head of one of the medical units, M.I. Potemkina; and a commissar in the 17th Artillery Division, I.S. Kuvshinov. There is also a general collection of documents, “Participants of the Battle of Moscow,” with miscellaneous documents, memoirs, and lists of veterans.
The museum archive contains newspapers from the wartime period acquired from collectors.
