A history of the acquisition of materials for Gorky's archive, now housed in Moscow at IMLI, from its founding in 1937 to the present. With descriptions and lists of the materials, only some of which have been published in the multi-volume series “Arkhiv A.M. Gor'kogo” (below). Name index. A detailed, comprehensive inventory of Gor'kii's literary and critical manuscripts held in the Archive, and correlation with published versions. A second volume in manuscript form covers correspondence and other documentary materials.

This inventory was prepared before the establishment of the Gor'kii Archive, when the manuscripts were still located in a variety of different repositories. Now largely superseded by e–99.
