Holdings Total: ca. 1,000 units; 1845–1960s The museum exhibits materials from the RGO archive on the history and establishment of the society, its expeditions in different regions, the activities of its divisions, commissions, and branches, its international relations, and also personal documents of members. These include manuscripts, cartographic materials, and photographs. There are also presentation letters of Russian geographers such as N.N. Miklukho-Maklai, N.M. Przheval'skii, P.P. Semenov-Tian-Shanskii, P.A. Kropotkin, and also foreign members from Germany, France, and America. Working conditions: Researchers are accommodated in the museum offices. Reference facilities: See Reference facilities under RGO Archive. Copy facilities: Xerox copies can be prepared at the society. Copies of documents in the museum require the agreement of the head of the RGO archive as well as the permission of the scientific secretary. |
